Impact Project
Ghassan’s project aims to establish and promote Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) training in Saudi Arabia, with a focus on integrating it into existing medical education programs.
The initiative begins with the project leader obtaining POCUS certification from POCUS Academy, followed by the establishment of the “Saudi Society of POCUS.” The project will then implement a pilot training program for family medicine residents in Jeddah, with plans to expand to other medical specialties and healthcare professionals. The timeline spans approximately one year, including six months for personal certification, three months for society establishment, and three months for pilot program preparation. The project will be implemented in Ministry of Health facilities in Jeddah, utilizing various POCUS probes, compatible devices, and training venues. By systematically introducing POCUS training across different medical fields and potentially incorporating it into medical school curricula, this initiative aims to significantly enhance diagnostic capabilities and patient care throughout the Saudi healthcare system.
