Impact Project
Carrie’s project aims to enhance healthcare for Indigenous peoples, particularly American Indian/Alaskan Natives, through the Indian Health Services. The initiative focuses on delivering high-quality, diagnostic, and point-of-care ultrasound education to healthcare workers serving these communities. To achieve this, the project employs a hybrid education model that combines several approaches. These include self-guided asynchronous learning, frequent one-on-one teaching sessions, workshops, and mentorship programs. Additionally, the model incorporates image review sessions and offers a tailored, standardized pathway for healthcare workers to obtain certification relevant to their specific patient population. This comprehensive approach ensures that healthcare providers are well-equipped to meet the unique needs of Indigenous communities.
